With effect from Sunday 3 May 2015 Archbishop Wayne E. Ellis has retired as Archbishop of the West and Central Provinces in the Apostolic Episcopal Church. Archbishop Ellis was consecrated by the late Archbishop H. Edwin Caudill in 1989 and appointed as his co-adjutor in the Diocese of the Southwest (The Anglican Church, Inc.). He has served the Apostolic Episcopal Church as Provincial of the West and Central Provinces since 1999, following the merger of the Anglican Church, Inc., with the AEC.
Bishop Anthony Scuderi, who has been Bishop of California in the AEC, succeeds Archbishop Ellis as Archbishop of the West and Central Provinces. His ministry is based in California, which has been a home to the AEC since the 1940s.
